Town Life in Bangladesh

(327 words, 6 paragraphs, 28 lines)

Introduction: Bangladesh has only a few towns and most of them are small. Dhaka, the seat of the capital is the largest town in Bangladesh. The two port-towns of Chittagong and Khulna are fast growing into big cities. Only fifteen per cent of the people of Bangladesh live in towns.

Amenities of town life: Nowadays people are leaving villages for towns. They are fond of town life. The town has better sanitation. It has road lights. It has the supply of pure water. It has good schools and colleges. It has good roads and streets. It has good cinema houses for recreation. It has banks and business firms. It has good transport facilities. In this sense, town life is full of ease and comfortable. So when people become wealthy, they generally leave the village and flock to the town to enjoy these advantages.

Disadvantages: Town life has disadvantages also. It is very costly to live in the town. People are always busy. Everyone tries to have his interests fulfilled. So they are selfish to the backbone. At every step a person meets deceit, fraud and dishonesty in the town. People have little or no sympathy for one another.

Unhealthy atmosphere: The town grows in a small area with a large population. The houses there are congested. Light and air cannot enter into it freely.

Dusty and noisy: The town is nasty with its dust, filth and bad smell. It is full of noise. There is a heavy rush of people along the roads. Cars, buses, taxis, lorries, scooters and rickshaws ply along the streets from morning to midnight. All these tell upon the nerves of the people living in the town. So they often want to go back to the village.

Conclusion: Towns have better communication system and better conveyances. It has better scopes for education, electricity, medical, facilities and other better amenities. We should try to make the amenities of village life available in our towns.
